LEARN TAI CHI
21st century tai chi WITH THE TEAPOTMONK
Why starting Tai Chi can be a confusing task.
Should you find a local class or look online?
Should you wait for a complete beginners course or jump into a mixed level class?
Should you sign up for a regular Zoom session or go for a self-paced course?
Should you choose Chen, Yang, Wu or another style?
The teapotmonk answer…
My name is Paul Read (the teapotmonk - read more👇). I’m here to help you start Tai Chi and so have created a Tai Chi Starters Kits that approaches the art from different points of view: (the Form, Workbook or daily applications. These are aimed at helping you take that first step. Some resources are free, some at a special low price, and others are complete, year long courses (check 👇)
Go your own way
Because there is no single path that is right for everyone, I’d suggest browsing to see what catches your interest and follow that. You’ll find FAQs, easy exercises to try out, videos to watch, articles to read and even a free introduction course. Prefer a personal touch? Just mail me anytime and tell me what you are looking for and I’ll make a few suggestions.
Intermediate or advanced? Check the Articles section and explore the bigger courses available (see below).
WHAT PEOPLE SAY…
-
"Exceptional"
“I have been practicing martial arts for over 45 years…this is by far, the best instructional course I have seen. The attention to detail, the multiple camera angles, the focus on both lower and upper body movements and footwork, the extras, and even the location for filming are exceptional. I was hesitant at first to spend the money, but I have no regrets.”
- Chuck Callaway
-
"Brilliant"
“ I’m really loving the course, and I have to say I’m really impressed too. I tried to learn the Wudang sword form online and it was so frustrating, but your sword form course is brilliant. I’m going through it slowly, but I’m feeling confident about each move”.
- Sinéad S.
-
Thank you...
“I’m getting more attention/response from this online course than I did from the instructor when I took a group class …and I can learn just a bit at a time, slowly - Thank you very much!”
- Karen

WHO IS THE TEAPOTMONK?
I’m also known as Paul Read. In my 35+ years of teaching, I have tried to simplify and streamline the art in order to make it more approachable and easy to learn. To that end I have written these books linked to simple, training courses
I also podcast create special online courses and self-study workshops for beginners.
My approach and style is not for everyone. So if you are looking for a levitating-sage that lives on a mountain and has a trained army of guru teachers around the world, - I’m afraid I’ll disappoint. But if you are looking for a contemporary, urban, down-to-earth, accessible 21st century guy, then check out the site. You might like what you see.
